The Wabash River Enhancement Corporation works with community partners to offer a variety of volunteer opportunities.  Collect water samples, remove invasive plants, pick up litter, help build trails, and more!

Volunteer Opportunities

Wabash Sampling Blitz

Every spring and fall, we host the Wabash Sampling Blitz.  The Sampling Blitz is a volunteer citizen science effort where volunteers collect water samples and water quality measurements.  We provide the equipment and supplies, and the volunteers spend about 3 hours sampling streams throughout Tippecanoe County.  Click below to learn more and sign up!

DeTrash the Wabash

Help pick up litter on the banks of the Wabash!  WREC partners with the Tippecanoe Solid Waste Management District, the Tippecanoe Partnership for Water Quality, and the Wabash Riverkeeper to plan the Spring and Fall De-Trash the Wabash.  Tentative date for the next De-Trash event is April 29, 2023.  Follow the link below for the most up-to-date information.

WREC Property Workdays

Help WREC prepare and maintain our properties so everyone can enjoy them!

We have a volunteer workday coming up on Tuesday October 17, 2023 from 9am-noon.  We will be cutting and treating honeysuckle along the Heritage Trail south of Tapawingo Park.  No registration necessary!  Just meet at the Tapawingo shelter at 9am.

We have a variety of tasks to accomplish during workdays including hand pulling garlic mustard, cutting and stacking honeysuckle brush, removing fencing, collecting litter, or building trails.

If you or your community group is interested in helping out, sign up to be on our volunteer call-out below to be contacted about volunteer workdays that come up throughout the year.
