Events
Get Connected. Stay Involved.
Creating opportunities for Greater Lafayette to engage with the enhancement of the Wabash River is critical. Here at WREC, we provide a variety of events for the public, from water sampling and landscape tours to our very own festival.
See the Results of Winter Sowing
Tuesday April 21, 2026 3pm-4:30pm
2609 Bonny Lane, Lafayette
Our watershed coordinator will be hosting a discussion as part of Tippecanoe Soil and Water Conservation District’s Native Plant Fest Week! Stop by Amy’s house to learn about her winter sowing process and see what native plants did well and which ones failed this year. You’ll see some variety of containers, and some native plant landscaping that was established using winter sown plants.

Wabash Riverfest
Saturday July 11, 2026 9am-4pm
Tapawingo Park
Join us to celebrate our community’s defining natural resource – the Wabash River! We’ll have river activities like voyageur canoe races, paddling trips, quick canoe and kayak trips, paddle board yoga, stand-up paddleboarding, and kids fishing. Combine that with booths hosted by local groups working in conservation, food trucks, and live music, and you’ve got yourself a good time! Check out our festival website to learn more.
Upcoming Volunteer Oportunities
Whether you’re just dipping your toes in to volunteer work, or ready to jump straight in to community involvement, here are some ways you can get involved with improving our waterways.
