Volunteer Opportunities
De-Trash the Wabash – October 18, 2025
Join the Tippecanoe County Partnership for Water Quality and WREC in picking up trash along the Wabash River on Saturday, April 5th! De-Trash the Wabash is focused on removing trash and restoring the health of the Wabash River. This cleanup is about more than picking up trash. It’s a day for citizens to demonstrate their desire for clean water and a healthy watershed.
Riverfest – July 11, 2026
In addition to enjoying our festival as a participant, we have lots of different opportunities to experience Wabash Riverfest as a volunteer. Volunteer slots are typically one to two hours. There’s something for everyone at various experience levels and different levels of physical ability. Volunteers should be at least 16 years old, and those under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Wabash Sampling Blitz – every April and September
Every spring and fall, we host the Wabash Sampling Blitz. The Sampling Blitz is a volunteer citizen science effort where volunteers collect water samples and water quality measurements. We provide the equipment and supplies, and the volunteers spend about 3 hours sampling streams throughout Tippecanoe County. Click below to learn more and sign up!
Get Notified when WREC has Volunteer Workdays
Help WREC prepare and maintain our properties so everyone can enjoy them!
We have a variety of tasks to accomplish during workdays including hand pulling garlic mustard, cutting and stacking honeysuckle brush, removing fencing, collecting litter, or building trails.
If you or your community group is interested in helping out, sign up to be on our volunteer call-out below to be contacted about volunteer workdays that come up throughout the year.
